Spring Valley, NV
The unincorporated town of Spring Valley, NV, is located two miles west of the Las Vegas Strip, home to a population of some 180,000 residents. Spring Valley is a master-planned housing community formed in 1981, having grown from its original one square mile to now more than 33 square miles of land across the southwest quarter of the Las Vegas Valley.
The land of Spring Valley was previously occupied by Stardust International Raceway, an auto racing track that operated until 1971. Pardee Homes then purchased the land in the mid-1970s and began residential development. The community was named for its views of the Spring Mountains and its distinct location within the region. Spring Valley consists mainly of housing subdivisions, combined with strip malls and commercial shopping centers that connect suburban Las Vegas to the Strip.
